These small engravings of historic Boston, published in the mid 1800’s. Most are steel plate engravings. They are in their original condition. Beautiful intense inks make the engravings appear like a photograph of the landscape. Too early for photography, these images are important printed relics, about 150 years old. This notable antique engraving, published Harper’s Weekly. Harper’s Weekly was sold a once a week by subscription, and by newsboys. The illustrated newspaper published in the 1857 – 1916. It was very popular during the second half of the 1800’s. The scenes depicted were very detailed and everyone wanted to read about what was happening in America and beyond!
