William Henry Bartlett was born 1809 and died in 1854. He became one of the foremost illustrators of topography of his generation. He first came to the United States in 1835 to draw the buildings, towns and scenery of the Northeastern United States. Bartlett’s renditions were accurate and interesting for traveler’s from America as well as abroad. His work is considered some of the best historic American documention ever published during the early 19th Century. The work of WH Bartlett coming from American Scenery published in 1837 in London. This is a lovely hand colored steel plate engraving. A genuine antique print that is over 175 years old. Very good condition. It measures about 8×10″
